You can use all or some of the following instructions depending on your scenario. Each step will add to the privacy of your browsing.

1. Turn off the disk cache.

* In the url bar, type about:config This will reveal the browser configuration.
* Type cache into the filter field.
* Double click on browser.cache.disk.enable and type false in the dialogue that pops up and click OK.

2. Turn off the referrer variable

(Please note that hiding the referrer will cause a few sites to not display properly)

* While still in about:config, type refer into the filter field.
* Double click on network.http.sendSecureXSiteReferrer and type false in the dialogue that pops up and click OK.
* Double click on network.http.sendReferrerHeader and type 0 in the dialogue that pops up and click OK.

3. Download files to your RamDisk

* While still in about:config, type download into the filter field.
* Double click on browser.download.defaultFolder and type /RamDisk in the dialogue that pops up and click OK.

4. Enable various privacy features

* Click on the Tools menu and select Options.
* Click on the Privacy icon
* Expand History and type 0 into the input box.
* Expand Saved form information and uncheck 'Save information...'
* Expand Saved Passwords and uncheck 'Remember Passwords'
* Expand Download Manager History and select 'Upon Successful Download' from the drop down menu.
* Expand Cookies. This one is a little more complicated as you may need cookies for certain sites. Fortunately Firefox has a great feature:

Check 'Enable Cookies' and 'for the originating Web site only' and 'Ask for each cookie'. Now visit the sites you know you need cookies for and accept the ones you are sure you require. Once you are finished doing this, go back to the Cookies options and uncheck 'Enable Cookies'. Now you will not get anymore cookies, and the sites you need them for can still access them! Firefox is great.
