Connecting Using Our Roaming Number

Here is how to create a Dial Up Connection to access our Roaming Number. This number is perfect for those times when you are 'On The Road', and are not within local calling areas for our standard access numbers. Read on for the instructions.

**DISCLAIMER** Though this is a toll-free number, it is not without a fee. You will be charged 8 cents per minute on your Internet bill. Please check the following page first to see if there is a free local number: http://www.wtccommunications.ca/mywtc/dialup_numbers.php Using the local numbers will not result in a fee on your Internet bill.

For Windows 98:

Double Click My Computer
Double Click on Dial Up Networking
Double Click the Make New Connection Icon
In the Field currently populated with 'My Connection', type in 'WTC Communications Roaming Access', then click on Next
Ignore the Area Code and Country Code, and type the following into the Phone Number field: 1-866-459-6753
Click Next
Click Finish
Right-Click your newly created connection, then click on Properties
Remove the checkmark next to 'Use Area Code and Dialing Rules'
Click the 'Server Types' tab, located at the top of the window
Remove ALL checkmarks, except for TCP/IP (The very bottom checkmark) and Enable Software Compression
Click on OK
You are done.

For Windows Me:

Click Start, point to Settings, then click Dial Up Networking
Follow the steps for Windows 95 and Windows 98, as the procedure is the same from here on out.

For Windows 2000:

Click Start, point to Settings, then click Network and Dial Up Connections
Click on Make New Connection
Click on Next
Select Dial Up to The Internet, then click Next
Select the third option down, then click Next
Select Connect Using My Phone Line, then click Next
Ignore the Area Code and Country Code, and enter 1-866-459-6753 in the Phone Number Field. Remove the checkmark beside Dial Using Area Code and Country Code, then click Next
Enter your UserID and Password in the respective fields, then click Next
Name the connection 'WTC Communications Roaming Access', then click Next
Select No when asked to set up a mail account, then click on Next
Click Finish
You are done.


For Windows XP (Home and Professional Editions):

Click Start, then click Control Panel
Click 'Switch to Classic View' in the left hand side of the window
Double Click Network Connections
Click on Create New Connection
Click Next
Select Connect to the Internet, then click Next
Select Set Up My Connection Manually, then click Next
Select Connect using a Dial Up Modem, then click Next
In the ISP Name field, enter 'WTC Communications Roaming Access', then click Next
Ignore the Area Code and Country Code, and enter 1-866-459-6753 in the Phone Number field, then click Next
Enter your UserID in the UserName field, and enter, and confirm your password, then click Next
Click on Finish
You are done.


For MacOS 9.x:

Click the Apple Menu, point to Control Panels, then click Remote Access
Change the number being dialed to 1-866-459-6753
Once you connect for the first time to this number, the changes will be saved.

For MacOS 10.x:

Click the Apple Menu, then click on System Preferences
Double Click on Network
Click the TCP/IP tab
Change the phone number to 1-866-459-6753
Click the 'Apply Now' button
You are done.

I hope you find this information handy when you set out for your next trip. Remember, the number is a toll-free from mostly all locations.
