Outlook Express - Sender Not Specified error

When you are sending e-mail in Outlook Express you may get the error “no sender specified.” If you receive this error, here is how to fix the problem.

Open Outlook Express

Click on Tools and select Accounts

Click on the Mail tab and highlight your account.

Click Properties.

Fill out the form. Name should be your name, E-mail address and reply address should be your e-mail address. Then click on the Servers tab.

Confirm that the information is completed.

The mail servers should be
Incoming mail server:
Outgoing mail server:

Account name should be the first part of your email address. Click OK.

Now click on the News tab. Select the account and click Properties.

(Note: If you do not have a news account, select close, ignore the next steps, and try to send your message again. )

Enter your real name and e-mail address, and then select the server tab.

Make sure the server is then select OK. When you get back to the internet account screen, click close. Try to send your message - it should work now.
